Management Team

Laurence J. Dietrick, CEO and Co-Founder of Scientel Wireless, LLC, has over twenty years of experience in the wireless telecommunications industry. Larry is responsible for strategic direction and management of Scientel’s broadband wireless business. A seasoned entrepreneur, he has proven leadership capabilities and an adeptness at identifying business opportunities and developing them into successful operations with minimal resources. Larry has extensive operational experience in the engineering and telecommunications industry. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering, is a licensed professional engineer, and possesses an MBA in Corporate Finance. Prior to co-founding Scientel Wireless, Larry has held numerous positions in the telecommunications and engineering industry, including Vice President, Telecommunications for Scientech, Inc, and General Manager, Chicago office, for Halliburton NUS. During his 29 year career, Larry has obtained extensive engineering and project management experience including international experience in Asia.

Nelson C. Santos, President, has successfully lead organizations in strategically selecting technology solutions for over a decade. Nelson is responsible for guiding the organization and technical engineering staff into new and emerging wireless technologies and applications, developing technical partnerships, marketing and sales strategies, and providing technical direction and oversight for Scientel, its clients and its partners. Prior to joining Scientel, Nelson consulted system integrators, government and enterprises on Information Technology and Wireless Broadband Communication Systems. Nelson provides first-hand knowledge of the technical and business aspects of various wireless communication networks. During his career, Nelson has held senior management positions in the technology and nuclear industries, including international experience in the Caribbean and the Middle East.

Kevin A. Blackman, Vice President of Finance and Administration, is an accomplished finance professional with over 17 years of executive financial experience in banking, manufacturing, service, construction, and technology sectors. At Scientel Wireless, Kevin is responsible for all financial related matters of the company. Along with a very strong financial background, Kevin has vast experience in operational support, related to federal, state, and local funding, governmental compliance issues, and customer/vendor support.  Prior to joining Scientel Wireless, Mr. Blackman held executive financial positions with NES Traffic Safety, Talent Partners, Viskase Corporation, and Northern Trust Bank. Kevin earned his BA at the University of Illinois – Chicago.

Michael Anderson, Vice President, Networks and Support, is an accomplished senior executive with 25 years experience in information technology, infrastructure services, and technology consulting. Along with a thriving record of selling and managing consulting services engagements, Mike is skilled in managing successful technology implementations and building long-term relationships with client leadership. At Scientel Wireless, he is responsible for developing new business, expanding opportunities with existing clients, and project leadership. Prior to joining Scientel Wireless, Mr. Anderson held numerous technical leadership positions with the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, AtHome America, and Whittman-Hart. Mike earned his BS in Computer Science from DePaul University and his MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Randy Murphy, General Manager for the Southern Region, has over 25 years in senior level management experience in the telecommunications and broadband industry. Randy has successfully lead engineering and operations organizations in infrastructure design and implementations. At Scientel Wireless, he is responsible for leading and guiding the Southern Regions’ strategic operational goals and objectives and the financial performance to meet those objectives. Prior to joining Scientel Wireless, Mr. Murphy held leadership and senior management positions with Telizent Communications, AFL Network Service, Nextira One, DataVon and XO Communications (formerly NextLink). Randy is accomplished in building long term client relationships, building new business and strategic planning.

Randy Swets, Manager of Convergent Voice Technologies is based in Scientel’s corporate office in Lombard, IL, and has over 30 years’ experience in the two-way radio industry. Mr. Swets has successfully organized and led organizations in Radio System Deployment, Maintenance, and Business Development in client discovery, development, and growth. Randy’s extensive understanding stems from over 30 years of experience on the sales and management side of the industry. Mr. Swets is responsible for the growth of two-way radio knowledge and awareness among our staff and customer base, with a constant eye toward converging technologies. Under this capacity, Randy is continually working with Scientel’s technical staff to develop unique applications for two-way radios in industry and has been instrumental in the acquisition of numerous high-profile clients. As a result, Mr. Swets has been placed in the role of Technical Specialist on the County of Hawaii P25 two-way radio consultant project. The opportunity to leverage Scientel’s strong IT knowledge base, and connect that strength with the two-way radio industry is the strongest contributing factor to Randy’s presence here. Mr. Swets is a graduate of DeVry Institute, and the Omega School of Radio Communications, as well as a General Class FCC license holder. Randy previously held the Technical Supervisor and the Sales Manager position at Illinois Communications.
